Zune 250 becomes possible with Toshiba 250GB 1.8" Hard Drive

Toshiba announced availability for a 1.8" 250GB drive. That's the same form factor that Zunes and iPod use, however, currently neither is selling anything larger than 120gb. The new drive spins at 5400 rpms rather than 4200 in the current Zune. This translates into much faster read and write times, in other words, next year we may see a 250GB Zune 250 that's faster and larger.

Toshiba also has a options for a possible Zune 160 and Zune 240, both at the lower rpm. Which way will iPod and Zune go in 2009? A Zune 250 may not be practical because 1/4 terabyte of music is cumbersome. Imagine sorting through thousands of albums, or hundreds of movies. Actually, that sounds pretty good.
